Katherine Leone Lund passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, at Guardian Angel Homes in Post Falls, Idaho.

Katherine was born May 5, 1937, in Logan, Utah, to Alfred and Florence Krebs. She was the fifth of eight children.

She moved to Sandpoint with her parents and family in 1954 and graduated from Sandpoint High in 1955. She married Ralph Lund in 1955; together they had three sons, Lenard, Tom and Dave.

Katherine worked for Bonner General Hospital for 47 years. She was an LPN and worked with patients for most of her career. During the last years, she worked in sterile processing. She loved being around the hospital and all her coworkers.

Katherine was multitalented and loved crafts of all kinds. She enjoyed quilting, beading, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and doll-making and collecting. There wasn't a craft that she would not try and excel at. She enjoyed gardening and picking huckleberries when in season. She also loved cooking and always offered to feed anyone who stopped by, no matter what time of day or night.

Katherine lived in Samuels in the house that she and Ralph built in 1956 until she entered assisted living in early 2021. She lived at Guardian Angel Homes in Post Falls for the last two years and enjoyed her remaining years there, being cared for like family and loved by family and staff until her passing.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her sister, Melvina; and her brothers, Fred and Paul. Her son, Lenard, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Linda) and Dave (Kelly), who live in Coeur d'Alene. She has numerous grandchildren. Sarah (Chris) Stockdale, Sonia Lund, Michael (Nichole) Bryce (Jen), all of North Idaho, and Ajee Martin of Houston. She also has one great-grandchild, Ava.

Katherine will be buried next to her husband, Ralph, at Pack River Cemetery in a private burial. There will be a celebration of life for Katherine for all friends and family in late September; the date, time and place to be determined.
