Jacque Selle, 92
Jacque “Jack” Doyle Selle, 92, passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, in Spokane Valley, Wash.
Private family services have been held.
Jack was born June 24, 1931, on a farm south of Crookston, Neb., to Leslie and Harriet Selle. The family moved to Sandpoint when Jack was 4 years old. In 1949, he graduated from Sandpoint High School, where he was an all-state football player. He went on to play football at Eastern Washington University. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
Jack married Eva Lou Kimzey on Aug. 9, 1953, in Sandpoint. During his career, he worked as a teacher, principal and coach in several school districts in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. He then served as registrar at Columbia Basin Community College and at Spokane Community College, first as dean and then as president.
Jack was a past president of the Rotary Club in Spokane and is a member of Sandpoint Elk’s Lodge No. 1376 B.P.O.E. He always put his family first, he loved to spend time at the family cabin on Lake Pend Oreille, and he enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, and sports.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Lou Selle of Otis Orchards, Wash.; four children, Mike (Nancy) Selle of Brewster, Wash., Dennis (Laurie) Selle of Bonney Lake, Wash., Susan (Randy) Shelton of Post Falls, Idaho, and Shari Selle of Spokane Valley, Wash.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Mervin, Dewey, and Elroy Selle.
