Laura (Marquez) Folkens, 93

Laura Louise (Marquez) Folkens was born June 17, 1930, in Snohomish, Wash. She passed away July 25, 2023, in Yakima, Wash.

Laura — a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — is preceded in death by her son, Marcy Marquez, and husbands Ben Marquez and Frank Folkens.

She is survived by daughter Naomi Marquez-Blake (naomi.marquez-blake@live.com); son David Marquez; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was with them all during the last week of June 2023 for a family reunion. Laura was a Bonner County bus driver, real estate agent, and owner/broker of Kaniksu Realty in Sandpoint; a GIA-certified gemologist and owner of Sayers Jewelers in downtown Sandpoint, Sandpoint Mall, and Bonners Ferry; a solo pilot; a Brazilian embroidery artist; a skier; a bicyclist; an adventurer; and a motorhome traveler.
