Commissioner Williams, what are we paying you for?

I have sat idly by as a taxpayer in this county for the past eight months, but I now have to make some things known to those that are not paying as close attention as I am. I have been watching the decisions that Commissioner Asia Williams has made and has been asked to make.

She has abstained from voting on many consent agenda items, several zone changes, and comprehensive plan updates.

Commissioner Williams has given little to no explanation as to why she is abstaining from making a decision; she has not made her opinion known, stated any kind of conflict of interest, or even asked staff for additional information.

Most often, these inactions occur when there is not a room full of people. It’s almost like Commissioner Williams only performs for a crowd of people.

What are we paying her for if not to make decisions? Why does she try to convince the other commissioners only when there is a crowd of people in the room?

If Commissioner Williams does not want to make decisions, then she should step down and let someone else step up who is willing to do the job.

Lastly, I appreciate Commissioner Williams’ continued support of streaming meetings on YouTube, which has afforded me the opportunity to watch her inaction.
