What is the real agenda behind recall?
I'm confused about this recall, replace, and rebuild issue. I get the co-opting of West Bonner County School District and school spirit colors and logos to make it appear this group actually cares about our students and represents our school district. But do they really?
They want to "recall" two trustees who are seeking fiscal responsibility, a return to the real "3Rs" — reading, [w]riting, and [a]rithmatic, and to support the goals of the superintendent, including the four-day week and quantum learning — intended to help student outcomes, teacher retention, and our transportation department.
With whom do they want to "replace" the trustees? The loudmouthed, name-calling bullies so prevalent recently at our board meetings? Who ran off former Superintendent Jackie Branum with their threats and hate emails? Are these the kind of people we want as trustees representing our schools?
And what is it they want to "rebuild?" That's a nice, catchy word.
Who is really behind the recall, and what do they really want? A 17% raise for teachers? A return to "how it's been?" A $10 million bond to repair the junior high school? Who is the person spending $5,000 to recall two conservative trustees? And who is the secret Robo-texter that sent out the unsolicited slanderous texts about Superintendent Branden Durst?
Please think seriously about this election and what it really means. Vote "no" on Aug. 29 on the recall.
