North Idaho Lakers to host 2024 season tryouts

SANDPOINT — The North Idaho Lakers legion baseball team will be holding tryouts for the 2024 season Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Big Pine Street Field.
The Lakers will field a 16U team and a 19U team for the 2024 season. Longtime legion baseball coach Ken Oler will make a return to coach the 19U team.
The NI ALB Post 15 program provides summer baseball opportunities for players ages 13 to 19. The teams compete in both the American Legion League and non-league tournament play. Athletes will play in 30 or more games a season from mid-May through early August.
Goals of the NI ALB Post 15 are to create an environment that will allow dedicated players to realize their capabilities as baseball players; to develop confidence, self esteem and poise as athletes; to understand that their achievements are a direct result of their efforts; to cultivate lifelong friends among their teammates and to support each other in all situations; to understand that sportsmanship, not showmanship, is an important ingredient in playing with class.
