Darold Arthur Britton, 90

Darold A. Britton, 90, passed away Aug. 19, 2023, at Kootenai Medical Center, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Darold was born May 10, 1933, in Maple Grove Township, Minn., the son of Archie and Della (Johnson) Britton.

He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1952. Following graduation he moved to Seattle, Wash., and went to work for Boeing. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, in 1954, serving in Adak, Alaska. He then moved to Fort Ripley, Minn., and drove truck for Riechert Trucking out of Brainerd, Minn.

On Oct. 29, 1960 he married Mary “Mimi” Stubbs in St Paul, Minn. In April 1961, he and his brother Dean, bought North American Agency in Northfield, Minn. In 1969, the family moved to Ft. Ripley, where he was employed at Larson Boats, Knopik Trucking and joined the Minnesota National Guard. He retired from the National Guard in 1996 when he and Mimi moved to Idaho.

Darold is survived by his wife, Mimi of Cocolalla, Idaho; Jeffrey and Jodi Britton of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Susan and David Schmidtbauer of White Bear Lake, Minn.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and his parents, Archie and Della (Johnson) Britton.

Burial will take place later at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley, in Minnesota.
