Elks aid Bay Trail clean-up

ParaDyce Builders crews volunteered a driver, a skid-steer with a grapple, and a dump-trailer to remove a large wood roof and camper trailer from the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail.
Sandpoint Elks are well-known for a wide variety of community service events and projects. Among their many — and very visible — programs are youth golf, Hoop Shoot, senior and veterans holiday dinner, Patriotic Scramble fundraiser for veterans, scholarships, Elementary School Gardens, Drug Awareness Trailer, Dictionaries for third Graders, etc.
Recently, the Elks were approached by Bill Rengstorf, a member of the Friends of the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail, who asked if the lodge could provide a crew to remove a large wood roof and camper trailer from the trail. Local residents have seen this green trailer sitting under a rough-hewn log and tin roof for many years, said Bob Huyck, Elks Exalted Ruler for 2023.
Huyck approached Elks member Andy Bruse, who happened to be the owner and president of AGE Heating and Cooling.
Without any hesitation, Bruse said he would bring three members of his business crew, with tools, and assist Huyck and Rengstorf in the removal of the old roof.
In addition, ParaDyce Builders volunteered a driver, a skid-steer with a grapple, and a dump-trailer to remove the roof and haul it to solid-waste, Huyck said.
With the trailer now exposed, it will be towed away and the Bay Trail will continue to be completed, and improved, by the cities of Sandpoint and Ponderay, the FPOBT, and the community at large.
