Lewis announces re-election bid
Geraldine Lewis, chair of the Lake Pend Oreille School District board, has announced her re-election bid.
For the last 8 years, Lewis has represented Zone 4 on the LPOSD board, which encompasses Sagle and adjacent areas. She said achieving success with the board in past years has inspired her to run for a third term.
“We have transitioned through three superintendents during my two terms, and they have each brought their unique talents to the district,” Lewis said. “I think it’s important to have someone on the board with that historical knowledge of where we’ve come from and the big picture of where we are heading.”
Lewis said she has been involved in many of the district’s current efforts, and wants to help carry out the board’s vision, especially in regards to its strategic plan.
“We have a very comprehensive five-year strategic plan,” Lewis said. “It centers around four key areas: Student academics and well-being; quality staff; facilities; and community connection. These are all areas the community identified as high priorities during our work in writing the strategic plan.”
While navigating the difficulties that stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging aspect of her role during her last term, Lewis said she is even more optimistic about helping the district overcome those types of challenges now that she has seen schools in the district bounce back.
“It’s our job to help students get the best education possible so they can succeed in the world,” Lewis said. “Lake Pend Oreille School District ranks as one of the best in Idaho, and I want to keep our momentum going. I ask the voters in my zone to please, give me your support.”
Only voters living within trustee zones with seats up for election can vote in trustee elections. Zone 4 encompasses the area south of Highway 200 including Sagle to East Dufort Road, east of Highway 95.
