PONDERAY — The recently remodeled Ponderay City Hall building was struck by a vehicle yesterday afternoon after an elderly man accidentally pressed the gas, causing his vehicle to crash through the front doors and into the main lobby.

Miraculously, Ponderay Mayor Steve Geiger said neither the man nor anyone inside the building were injured.

Due to the severity of the damage, the City Hall building is expected to be closed at least through Monday, possibly longer, while city staff figure out the extent of the damage.
