Schweitzer voted top ski hill in North America
SANDPOINT — Schweitzer has been named the overall best ski resort in North America this year, according to HomeToGo, a vacation rental company who offers rentals in unique parts of the country.
Sandpoint’s home mountain was named the overall best for a multitude of reasons, including its “excellent snow conditions, affordability, lift capacity and plenty of ski terrain to explore.” With a 17,100-person ski lift capacity and 59 total miles of runs, Schweitzer came out on top, barely beating Park City, Utah, which came in close second.
“Boasting 2,900 acres of snow-draped terrain, Schweitzer Mountain dazzles with its remarkable skiing opportunities,” HomeToGo staff said. “Nestled snugly in the snowy embrace of the Selkirk Mountains … skiers can savor the chillingly beautiful views of three states, Canada and the glistening Lake Pend Oreille.”
Although Schweitzer came in on top overall, it landed in fifth place for affordability, with day-pass lift tickets this year costing $110 per person.
