High-speed internet coming to Sagle next year
SAGLE — High-speed internet is coming to Sagle next year thanks to a $2.5 million grant recently awarded to Kaniksu Internet.
With this award, Kaniksu will be able to provide high-speed fiber internet with speeds up to 2.5 gigabytes per second to homes and businesses in the Sagle area. Service is expected to cover the east side of Highway 95 to Lake Pend Oreille and include the neighborhoods of Westmond, Talache, Garfield Bay, Camp Bay, Elliot Bay, Glengary, Martin Bay, Bottle Bay and the surrounding areas.
“Kaniksu Internet is incredibly grateful to the State of Idaho and the Idaho Broadband Advisory Board for the opportunity to bring high speed fiber internet to the Sagle community,” said Kaniksu Networks owner Ryan Green. “With fiber internet coming to Sagle, it will enable greater opportunities to its residents for distant learning, remote work and telehealth to a community that is unserved by existing internet service options.”
With this grant award, the county-based company expects to start construction in the coming spring, with a goal to start bringing customers online shortly thereafter. Work to provide service to the entire grant area is expected to last until the end of 2026.
Residential fiber service plans will start at roughly $70 for 100 mbps, and will offer higher-speed plans of 250 mbps, 500 mbps, 1 gbps and 2.5 gbps. In addition to internet service, customers can also take advantage of the Kaniksu phone service.
