POAC’s grand opening a huge success
Not even a snowstorm could put a damper on the turnout for Pend Oreille Arts Council’s Open House last Friday.
Held at POAC’s new location for their offices, gallery and classrooms, the reveal was met with appreciation by all who attended.
“The turnout was remarkable, and the resounding enthusiasm from our attendees was deeply appreciated,” POAC’s executive director Tone Stolz said in an email to board members after the event. “Our new space undeniably left a lasting impression on everyone who walked through our doors. Some people never wanted to leave!”
Stolz and arts administrator Claire Christy outdid themselves getting art hung and displayed in the new gallery. The event put the spotlight on the magnificent artwork of POAC’s Artist of the Year, Jenny Benoit, and featured sculptures and jewelry created by other local POAC artists.
“Having the ability to provide our artists with excellent exposure, and the Bonner County community with quality artwork for sale has been a goal for a long time,” Stolz said. “This facility is a dream come true.”
One of the best features of the new location is the classroom for the Joyce Dillon Studio where adult art classes are held. This spacious room is on the ground floor, has parking available in the rear, and has an abundance of natural light, which is perfect for beginners to learn and experienced artists to refine their skills.
POAC’s mission to provide entertaining and educational programs in the arts will be well served in this new location, and the public is invited to stop in at 313 North Second Avenue Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
