Aspire to present 'OFFBEAT Christmas' Dec. 14

| December 10, 2023 1:00 AM

For an anything but ordinary Christmas show, Aspire Community Theatre will perform OFFBEAT Christmas at 7:30 p.m. one night only, Dec. 14, at the Midge and Pepper Smock Family Theatre at the Kroc Center, 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene.

From the creative mind of Aspire's resident music director, Presley DuPuis, watch a unique and original Christmas concert show featuring holiday songs that are silly, sincere and full of holiday cheer.

About a decade ago, when Christmas offerings became popular events in Coeur d'Alene, DuPuis got the notion to do a show centered on the villains of Christmas.

"We always hear about Frosty, Old St. Nick and the North Pole; but what about the Heat Miser, Krampus or some of the not-so-popular Christmas characters?" Aspire artistic director Triggle Weddle said.

What began as a quirky idea in DuPuis' head evolved into combining some of the most charming, distinct and beautiful songs rarely heard.

"This celebration is a show that's fresh — and just a little bit offbeat," Weddle said.

OFFBEAT Christmas has some recognizable tunes thrown in for good measure and promises to be one of the most fun Christmas concert of the season.

The show is "pay what you will," and tickets/reservations are available at aspirecda.com.
