Bonner County Christmas happenings
SANDPOINT — While less than two weeks remain before Christmas Day, Bonner County festive happenings are still plenty.
At the historic Priest River Junior High Theater, Priest River musical theater and choir programs will present their annual musical. This year the production will be “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” There will be two performances this week; one tonight at 6 p.m. and the other Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m.
“Be transported into a magical world of candlelight and string quartet music,” organizers said on a Facebook event page for a Candlelight Concert Series. This black tie event in Sandpoint will showcase a performance illuminated by hundreds of candles. This performance is ticketed and will include two evening performances at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 at the Heartwood Center in Sandpoint.
The “Very Merry Coffee House,” at Evans Brothers in Sandpoint, will feature poetry, music and holiday singalongs orchestrated by Nova High students and Waldorf alumni. This is a ticketed event that will take place Dec. 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A coffee bar and bake sale will be available.
Talus Rock Retreat invites the community to "Cozy Crafts & Cocoa: Letters of Love" for a festive afternoon of creativity and compassion, organizers said on a Facebook event page. The community is invited to bring their families and enjoy cocoa, share in the holiday spirit, and craft heartwarming messages for local veterans and senior shut-ins. Kids can also write letters to Santa. All materials will be provided. The event is free and will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 17 at 291 Syringa Heights Road.
On Dec. 19, Priest River Baptist Church will host its annual Christmas Stocking Project from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each child will receive one stocking filled with a toy, a book, a clothing item, and items from Our Father's Cupboard. This event is first-come, first-serve.
A “Community Christmas Celebration” at Parkside Church in Sandpoint will be complete with dinner and activities. The event will feature "Hallelujah," a Christmas play by Parkside Kids, bingo, a photo booth by Magnolia Memories, gifts, caricature drawings by Jeremy Johnson, and more. The celebration will take place Dec. 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
