PREP BASKETBALL: Sandpoint boys, girls both take down Timberlake

Sandpoint 71, Timberlake 65

SANDPOINT — Four Bulldogs reached double figures in Sandpoint’s 71-65 win over Timberlake at Les Rogers Court on Thursday.

Junior Emerik Jones had a team-high 19 points while sophomore Logan Roos notched a season-high of 13 for the Bulldogs. Parker Childs (12) and Derrick Chamberlain (11) also reached double-digits in the win over the Tigers.

Sandpoint (3-3) will be back in action against Lewiston on Saturday.

Clark Fork 69, Mullan 20

CLARK FORK — Senior Ethan Howard led the Wampus Cats with 21 points as Clark Fork dominated Mullan, 69-20 in a North Star league matchup on Thursday.

Sophomore Owen Howard had a season-high 16 points, while senior Seth Caven had a season-high 10 points for the Wampus Cats.

Clark Fork (3-1, 1-0) will face Immaculate Conception Academy Monday on the road.

Sandpoint 58, Timberlake 53

SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake jumped out to an early lead on the reigning 4A state champions, Sandpoint, but the Bulldogs pulled away and captured a 58-53 victory over the 3A state runner-ups on Thursday night.

In the middle two quarters, the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 33-19, and held off the hosts down the stretch for a 58-53 non-league victory.

Kursten McKellips scored a game-high 23 points for Timberlake (6-2), including 15 in the second half, 10 of those in the fourth quarter.

Aliya Strock scored 21 points, Karlie Banks 17 for Sandpoint, which was coming off a 32-point loss at Lake City on Tuesday. The Bulldogs made 6-of-8 free throws in the last minute-plus, including 4-of-4 by Strock, who finished with three 3-pointers.

Sandpoint (6-1) faces Kellogg at home Tuesday.

CLARK FORK — Senior Lilly Reuter had a season-high 12 points for the Wampus Cats in a 43-14 win over North Star rival Mullan on Thursday.

"We worked on the fundamentals and got everyone some floor time," head coach Jordan Adams said. "Our varsity stepped up and mixed in with the junior varsity; they worked on things together and got a lot of looks. It was a good team effort all around."

Clark Fork (2-5, 1-0) will face Wallace at home Monday.
