PREP WRESTLING: Bonner County wrestlers among some of the top at Tri-State
COEUR d’ALENE – Priest River’s Colm McLaimtaig (138) placed fourth at the prestigious Tri-State wrestling tournament held at North Idaho College this past Friday and Saturday. He was the highest placer from Bonner County at the event.
On the weekend, McLaimtaig went 5-2 with three pins and had two victories via injury default. After two pins on opening day, he also pinned Logan Bradley of Coeur d’Alene (0:40) en route to the third-fourth place match.
Also in the 138-pound bracket was Sandpoint’s Shane Sherrill who finished fifth overall. Sherrill went 6-2 with one pin, three wins via decision (one major), one by technical fall, and won the fifth-place match via injury default. After going 3-1 on opening day, he defeated Lawrence Muhat of Lake Stevens via decision (10-6) and Jayson Bonnett of Mt. Spokane via decision (4-2).
