It’s time to work together for our kids
Recently, the voters of the West Bonner County School District changed the composition of the district’s school board. Both sides, of what was a divisive campaign, lamented the election outcome. As a product of the Priest River school system and until recently, having a ringside seat to corrosive national politics in Washington, D.C., I am actually heartened by the election results in WBCSD.
For the sake of transparency, my family has played a major role in the WBCSD schools and local politics, and frankly, we’ve been attacked on social media for “being the problem” in our schools. Regardless, it’s now time for the working majority of the community to extend a hand in friendship and trust to everyone in the community to work together to make the schools the best that they can be. The hard part hasn’t been the campaign to win control of the schools; the hard work is going to be setting aside our feelings from the campaign vitriol and begin working together for the kids of our community.
Can both sides do that? Time will tell, but I have faith and hope that they can and will work to the benefit of our kids!
