LT. HADLEY AT GREENLAND AFB

U.S. Air Force First Lieutenant Donald C. Hadley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph D. Hadley, 514 N. Sixth, Sandpoint, has arrived for duty at Thule AB, Greenland, where he is assigned to a unit of the Aerospace Defense Command as a helicopter pilot. A 1966 graduate of Sandpoint High and 1971 U of I graduate, Lt. Hadley was commissioned through the Officer Training School at Lackland, AFB, Tex.

TOURED U.S. ON AMERIPASS

Misses Kathy Cochran and Diane Gunter returned to their homes Dec. 1 after a two-month bus trip around the U.S., traveling by Greyhound Ameripass. They visited with many relatives and friends, spent a day at Disneyworld, Florida, and toured Washington, D.C., New York City, El Paso, New Orleans, Boston, Niagara Falls and Indianapolis. Their last stop in the south was Juarez, Mexico. The trip then proceeded to the Northwest where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gunter in Portland, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Luckie (Nellie Cochran) in Seattle. Both girls feel their trip was a great success and a wonderful experience they will always remember.

Sandpoint News-Bulletin

Dec. 28, 1948 – BURT PLANS TO ATTEND UI

Pfc Walter J. Burt, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Burt, route 2, arrived here Dec. 14, after an honorable discharge from the army. He was stationed at a freight field air base in Alabama the past 18 months and previously served a year in Japan. On Feb. 1, he will enter the U of Idaho for the second semester.

CEDAR POST ISSUED TWICE EACH WEEK

The Cedar Post, twice-weekly mimeographed paper of the Sandpoint high school, published under the guidance of Miss Maxine Reeves and Mrs. Everett Martin, is out on Tuesdays and Fridays. The work is volunteer and is done after school hours. Besides providing excellent practice in news reporting, it serves to keep the student body informed on matters of current school interest.

CITY IN BRIEF

Bob Farmin arrived home Friday morning from Seattle, where he is attending Lakeside school, to spend the holidays with his father, Ted Farmin.

Mike Palahniuk, SH3, arrived Monday from Pearl Harbor to spend the holiday with family members.

NEWS FROM COLBURN

Rex Timblin and little daughter, Carol Jean, spent the week end in Spokane with Mrs. Timblin, who was still in the hospital there, but was so much improved she returned home Monday.

Harold Elli plowed the snow from the private roads, the store and the school house on Sunday.
