Extreme SkiJor returns to Wallace in February
The fifth annual Extreme SkiJor returns to the streets of Wallace for President's Day weekend Feb. 17-19.
This year's event has been expanded to include more family-friendly activities, daytime performances and extreme Wallace fun.
Skiers and snowboarders will be pulled with tracked four wheelers across a snow course built in the middle of Wallace's historic downtown.
Competitors will hit jumps and rails, performing their best moves for a chance to win $4,000 in cash prizes.
Carnival-style games will be free for families and children on Sixth Street, between Cedar and Pine. Local startup Inland Iglu will set up lighted, full-sized igloos on Sixth between Cedar and Bank. Activities will also be available at the Elks Lodge at 419 Cedar St., where families can also warm up.
7 p.m. Feb. 17 — Keg Jump and Exhibition Event. Competitors jump as many kegs in a row as they can in an Evel Knievel-style event to win a $500 cash prize.
1 p.m. Feb. 18 — Qualifier round. Top competitors from this round will advance to the finals.
1 p.m. Feb. 19 — Final round. The top performer in each of the Ski and Snowboard categories will each take home the grand prize of $1,500, while second and third place will take home $500 and $250 respectively. The top female competitor overall will take home an additional $500 cash prize.
The mission of Ski Wallace is to bring winter sports enthusiasts and tourists to town during the off-season by promoting winter recreation and events. The President’s Day weekend Extreme SkiJor event draws large crowds of spectators and participants to the Silver Valley.
