Sandpoint wins by double
Sandpoint hosted Kellogg on Thursday night in their final regular season game. Karli Banks scored 15 points for the Bulldogs to help them win 64-30 over the Wildcats.
“I thought the kids did a good job, especially for the last game of the regular season,” head coach Will Love said.
Aliya Strock scored six points in the first, both 3-pointers, and 12 overall for the Bulldogs.
Sandpoint led 20-5 at the end of the first quarter.
Alex Karst hit a 3 for the Wildcats to start off the second quarter but the Bulldogs' defense kept strong.
Sandpoint ran a number of set plays and spread the points out amongst players with Banks, Strock, Kelsey Cessna, Peyton Cessna and Alexa Tunistra all contributing.
The Bulldogs were up 36-13 heading into halftime.
Kellogg crept their way back scoring 12 points to Sandpoint’s 14 points in the third quarter.
“There was a little bit of flatness,” Love said. “It’s tough finishing with a league game then coming back to play another game.”
Sandpoint kept their lead 50-25 heading into the fourth.
“As the evening went on you could see that the girls were starting to come together with the different rotations,” Love said.
Final score, 64-30 Sandpoint.
The Bulldogs end their regular season (15-5) and will play at home in the first round of Districts on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs play SCHOOL at home on Thursday at 7 p.m.
