Sandpoint boys basketball team played Post Falls at home on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs battled hard but lost 67-62 over the Trojans.

“There were peaks and valleys for us tonight,” head coach Brian Childs said.

Sandpoint was first to score but ended the quarter trailing 9-16 against Post Falls.

“There were stretches where we were playing well and scoring the ball easily and others where we went through a drought and lost our concentration,” Childs said.

Max Frank shot 1:1 at the line and the Bulldogs took the lead back for the first time with 2:45 to go in the second.

Rusty Lee scored eight points and 27 overall to help Sandpoint keep their lead.

The Bulldogs were ahead 25-22 at halftime.

Post Falls outscored Sandpoint 20-16 in the third with Tyras Blake contributing 12 points and 32 overall for the Trojans.

“We left the shooters wide open who we talked about and we can’t have lapses like that against a team that plays a tough schedule,” Childs said.

Parker Childs added five points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs trailed 42-41 at the end of the third.

Post Falls kept Sandpoint on their toes and pulled away with 4:00 to go.

“We had too many lulls defensively and some missed assignments,” Childs said.

Sandpoint made their way back with 2:00 to go.

Randy Lane knocked down a shot to keep them in the game just four points down with :10 to go.

Lane hit another 2:3 at the foul line with :04 to go but it wasn't enough for the Bulldog win.

The Bulldogs will play Lake City at home on Friday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m.

“We’re looking at down the road,” Childs said. “These games are good for us to play teams like Lewiston, Post Falls and Lake City. I’m hoping that these are going to pay off for us in a couple weeks.”
