10 Bulldogs off to state
The Sandpoint High School wrestling team pose after a successful district meet. The Bulldogs will send 10 athletes to the upcoming state championship.
The Sandpoint High School wrestling team won seven titles and had 12 placers at the district championships over the weekend.
Ashley Hawkins (126), Shane Sherrill (138), Christian Troumbly (145), Calvin Hinds (182), Jorden Tyler (195), William Bomba (220), Gavin Walters (285) and regional champion Grace Balch all punched their tickets to state by winning their weight category.
Andrew Duke (106) and Lilli Marti placed second in their matches and will also continue on to the state championship.
Sage Green and Dakota Rief rounded out the podium in third place.
The top two finishers in each weight class will continue on to the state championship this weekend, Feb. 23-25.
Aiden Rork (113) also won a bid, which will allow him to compete this weekend and have a shot of winning an individual state title.
