Bulldog wrestlers have solid day at state
It was a solid second day for the Bulldogs at the 2023 Idaho HS State Wrestling Championships.
While Jorden Tyler, Calvin Hinds and Shane Sherrill each lost their semi-final rounds, Sandpoint coach Doug Fry said the three wrestlers are going for a medal today as are two others — Calvin Hinds and Grace Balch.
"We have five kids placing this year which is phenomenal," Fry said. "Last year we had one. I'm really proud of them."
Fry said Christian Troumbley, one of the team's captains, lost a heartbreaker in the last second after having a great match just before.
"He has been a delight to be around this year," he added. "He's one of the best kids I've ever coached."
Fry said he is proud of the team, noting that every kid on the Bulldogs squad got at least one win at state.
