Paul Jared Trunnell, 67
Our beloved Paul Jared Trunnell, purveyor of all things stone, MacGyver of all that’s impossible and rescuer of the downtrodden, slipped from his cancerous body at the age of 67 to seek new adventures in Heaven on Feb. 21, 2023.
Born number nine of 17 siblings, Paul dubbed himself “the peak of the gene pool.” He leaves behind 10 sisters; six brothers; his wife, Sandra Trunnell; four children, Tiesha Saddler, Chelsea Olson, Anthony Trunnell, and Rashell Wolfert; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Bobbi, the mother of his children.
What comes to mind when you think about Paul? If you’re a sibling, you remember watching the gears of his mind churning when you presented a problem. In no time he’d come up with a solution, usually in the form of a deal.
If you were his child, you’d see genuine worry and concern for your happiness. He’d work tirelessly to help you better your life.
As his grandchild, you’d laugh at the funny stories of his childhood, or ride with him on his backhoe.
Paul had a great deal of faith and often testified of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Service to others was a focal point of his faith.
Paul taught many young men the value of hard work by giving them jobs in his Park City Stone business. He taught lessons on being creative and entrepreneurial.
We all knew for certain that Paul cared for us more than he cared for himself. His final words were of others and how much more he wished he could do to help. Paul’s tireless efforts to benefit those around him gave his life purpose until he could no longer lift his head.
His proudest accomplishment was a close, vital relationship with his amazing children and grandchildren. His only regret was not having more time on earth to help them achieve their loftiest dreams.
Paul, we will miss your jokes and laughter, your hilarious stories that you think are just as funny the hundredth time. We’ll miss your positive outlook. No matter how dismal things got, you could always see a way through. You didn’t ask for a lot unless it was to help others.
God, we thank you for taking Paul into your arms and relieving his suffering. He fought a good fight and deserves your kind and loving rest. We’ll miss him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 602 Schweitzer Cutoff Road, Sandpoint, Idaho. Flowers may be sent to Coffelt Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho. Donations accepted through Venmo: @Anthony-Trunnell
