CHAMBER ASKS FOR STAY OF SALE

The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce Industrial development committee voted Friday to request that the city council set aside its action of last week to sell the old state experiment farm [located on the east side of N. Boyer between the two sets of railroad tracks]. Sandpoint’s City Council voted to sell the 14-acre “farm” on the basis that the city had no one qualified to operate the area as an industrial park. Chamber director Pete Thompson said he felt further study of the situation was the best route.

ALL DOVER HOUSES WIRED

The wiring of all of the company’s houses, and most of those privately owned, has been completed in Dover, and electric lighting is now supplied by the Mountain States Power Co. Lighting was formerly furnished by power from the company’s engine room, a 220-volt current, which was turned on only in the morning and in the evening till 10 o’clock, due to lack of fuel. That power is now being used by the frame factory and the 110-volt Power Company current is proving a great convenience, enabling housewives to use their washing machines and toasters as well as having lights, at all hours.
