Bonner County welcomes first baby of 2023
SANDPOINT — Delaney Lynn Culp's arrival was a special one.
Not only is she the first baby born in Bonner County in 2023, it's a birthday that she shares with her maternal grandmother as well.
Born at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, Delaney is the daughter of Andrea Marcoccio and Kennden Culp and joins big brother Connell Patrick Culp.
"Our baby girl Delaney Lynn’s arrival is special in so many ways," Marcoccio said. "Not only is she Sandpoint’s 2023 New Year’s babe — more importantly she is healthy and also arrived on her maternal grandmother’s birthday."
Marcoccio said the couple had just returned home after a quick cheers at the New Year's Eve celebration at Matchwood Brewing when she went into labor. They got in the car and headed to Bonner General Health for delivery with the support of Sandpoint Women’s Health’s amazing OBGYN team.
"We feel so fortunate to have the nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists, pediatricians and entire team so close to home," Marcoccio said.
Marcoccio said the family of now-four are settling in at home and enjoying their time bonding together.
"We hope 2023 is as sweet as our little lady and her big brother Connell," she said.
The first baby of the New Year receives a baby basket full of necessities, from books to onesies to a cradling bouncer. The basket was sponsored by the Bonner General Health Foundation.
"Please join us in congratulating these sweet parents on their new addition," hospital officials said in a statement announcing Delaney's birth.
