A well-matched game from the start, Sandpoint took the floor with their JV team. The game was back and forth for the full 32 minutes. The Bulldogs took the win over Clark Fork 46-38.

"Clark Fork's a good team. They’re well-coached and both teams played hard,” JV coach Joe Fata said.

Jamie Herrick had an impressive and-one play for the Wampus Cats early in the game.

“When we need that sixth man off the bench to give us that umph, we throw her in and it’s like she didn’t skip a beat,” Clark Fork's head coach Jordan Adams said.

Clark Fork led at the end of the first quarter 11-9.

The Wampus Cats came out with energy in the second quarter and Sandpoint responded. Clark Fork pressed high on defense, the Bulldogs kept their composure and passed the ball well.

“We persevered tonight,” Adams said.

Jetta Thaete came in and hit six points for the Bulldogs to help them take the lead with 3:00 to go in the second quarter. Thaete had 12 points overall and proved to be a crucial all-around player for Sandpoint.

“She’s a freshman who’s starting to figure out what it takes to play big and battle in both JV and varsity games,” Fata said.

The Bulldogs held their lead 20-17 going into halftime.

Clark Fork was first to score in the second half. The Bulldogs and Wampus Cats played rough through a good amount of bumps, elbowing and flops.

The game was tied 27-27 heading into the final quarter.

Both teams had attempts to score from the get-go. Thaete was first to sink a shot for the Bulldogs. The Wampus Cats responded quickly with a layup then Sandpoint went on a scoring spree.

“The last five we had on the floor were clicking and starting to communicate really well,” Fata said.

“It came down to the fact that their bench is a little bit deeper than ours,” Adams said. “But I’m really proud of the girls.”
