River City Volleyball Club hosts tournament
Priest River Junior High and Priest River High School hosted a volleyball tournament over the weekend of Jan. 14-15. The teams, known collectively as River City, are made up of girls from Newport and Priest River.
On Saturday, Jan. 14, the River City U14 teams hosted 12 teams from Othello and Montana. The U14 team, coached by Katlyn Ward, ended up tying for third out of 11 teams on Saturday.
Sunday, the U16 teams competed against 10 teams visiting from places like Yakima and Montana. The River City U16 team, coached by Natalie Randolph, claimed second place out of 10 teams, losing to Club South (U15) Carolina from Spokane in the championship game.
The North Idaho Volleyball Club (NIVBC) U16 team from Sandpoint also attended the tournament and tied for third place in Sunday’s game.
