Timberlake defeats Bulldogs, 65-48
SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake wanted to come out and take control early in the second half.
Things just extended from that.
Senior Raj Olivieri scored 14 of his team-high 20 points in the second quarter for the Tigers, who outscored the 4A Sandpoint Bulldogs 34-13 in the second half of a 65-48 nonleague win on Wednesday.
Senior Hunter Higgins scored 15 points and Wyatt MacArthur nine for Timberlake, which trailed 35-31 at halftime.
“Those three seniors were just fun to watch tonight,” Timberlake coach Mike LaFountaine said. “Raj was just phenomenal in the second quarter. Hunter was really aggressive and a great floor leader in the first quarter and Wyatt was getting every big rebound when we needed it. We just wanted to win the first three minutes of the second half, and it carried over from that. If we can play defense this way, we can play with some other teams.”
Timberlake (6-9) hosts Bonners Ferry in the inaugural Backwoods Brawl spirit game tonight.
Junior Parker Childs scored 22 points for Sandpoint (7-9), which travels to Moscow on Tuesday.
