Blood drive being held at library

| January 29, 2023 1:00 AM

There are few opportunities in this world where you can both make a lifesaving donation to someone and receive a cookie in the process.

The Vitalant Blood Drive is one of those opportunities, East Bonner County Library District public information officer Brenden Bobby said.

"Having an adequately stockpiled amount of transfusable blood can mean the difference between life and death for victims of emergency situations, whether it’s a crash, a gunshot, or even life-saving surgery," he said. "The only way we can ensure that our community has enough blood available is by giving blood while you’re healthy."

While the idea of being stuck with a needle can be scary, it’s a quick and relatively painless process.

"So, as long as you’re staring at the ceiling or closing your eyes, you won’t even see the needle," he said. "A little poke is a small price to pay for the chance to potentially save lives. Besides that, you get a cookie when you’re done, and who doesn’t like a cookie?"

The community is invited to stop by the Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar St., on Tuesday, Jan. 31 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to donate.
