Michael Wade Wooden, 61

| July 1, 2023 1:00 AM

Michael Wade Wooden, age 61, peacefully passed away on June 16, 2023, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Placerville, Calif., on July 11, 1961, his family relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho when he was 10 years old in 1971. In his teens, he began working for Loman’s Tire, a local auto shop, where he became great friends with the owners Ina and Paul and their family. After Sandy and Bob Loman had their girls, he came to be known as their “Guncle” and would always be willing to babysit.

He served a brief time in the Reserves and National Guard, then went on to do an assortment of jobs; log home building, carpentry, mechanic work, etc. You name it, he could do it. He still made time for his family and friends and hobbies of his own. Some of which were: spoiling his grandchildren, going fishing and throwing people off tubes while boating. As well, he enjoyed tinkering on his trucks and working on small projects around the house.

He met his wife Angela Montgomery in Sandpoint, Idaho, after an initial meeting in Harold's IGA. They were married June 26, 1999, in Memorial Park, Sandpoint, Idaho.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Wooden; and sister, Leah Wooden.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Wooden of Sandpoint; his daughters, Holly (Nathan) Welton of Spokane, Wash., and Kaytlyn Wooden of Sandpoint. His stepchildren, Erin (Amber) Montgomery of Clark Fork, Idaho, and Amber Timblin of Spokane, Wash.; his mother, Linda (Al) Palaniuk of Cocolalla, Idaho; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his four siblings, RD Wooden, Tracy (Ferron) Konakis, Roby (Jill) Wooden and Dale (Heather) Wooden; his extended family, Malissa Peterson, Erin (Trey) Jeck and Brook (Jarrett) Loman-Robson; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2023, at a family friend’s residence in Clark Fork, Idaho. Further details can be found on the Facebook event page “Celebration of Life for Michael Wooden.”
