CDA snaps Lakers six-game win streak
The North Idaho Lakers were defeated by the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen 7-3 at the Spokane Wood Bat Classic on Saturday.
Zeke Roop put the Lakers on the board first with a line drive single that scored one run in the top of the first. North Idaho would end up giving up three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but slowly inched their way back into the game. By the end of five innings the score was tied 3-3.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Lumbermen would catch fire in the bottom of the sixth and went on to put up four runs; all of the runs were scored with two outs. CDA would come away with the win after putting down the Lakers in order in the seventh.
Mason Little and Roop both led the Lakers offensively. The pair each recorded a single and an RBI. Soren Caprio, Dallen Williams, and Jacob Aexel all hit singles as well.
After a shaky start, Roop settled in on the mound and pitched a quality start for the Lakers. The right-hander, who has been stellar in relief this season, went 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits, two earned runs, three walks and striking out nine batters.
The North Idaho Lakers (11-9) stand at 2-1 in tournament play and are set to face the Asotin County Blues and the Wenatchee Valley Baseball Club tomorrow.
