Luncheon raises scholarship funds

The annual Sarah Jones Memorial Scholarship Luncheon was held June 24 at the Blanchard Community Center.
Awarded scholarships for 2023 were Nakita Angel, John Preston Chapman, Zach Engelson, Addison Kingery, Matyus McLain and Hayden Stockton.
In addition to the luncheon, more than 25 baskets were raffled and auctioned off.
As in past years, the annual luncheon, which serves as the fundraiser for the Sarah Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund, again drew a strong crowd.
The scholarship pays tribute to Sarah Jones, who was 18 when she was killed by an impaired driver while walking along Blanchard Cutoff Road in 2005.
Anyone can apply for this scholarship who would like to attend or are attending a university, community college, or trade school.
Applicants must live in the Blanchard service area (southwestern Bonner County).
BASIC is a nonprofit organization that hosts programs, services and fundraisers.
