SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Sasquatch 14U travel baseball team fell to the Prairie Cardinals, a Post Falls-based travel team, 5-3 on Friday in the first game of the team’s home tournament at War Memorial Field.

The Sasquatch were held scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when Jackson Wilson hit an RBI single to center field that tied the game, 2-2. The very next inning, Carson Resso would hit an RBI double to deep left field to again tie the game, 3-3. The Sasquatch would let up two runs in the final inning of play and could not mount a rally in the bottom half of the inning, giving the Cardinals a 5-3 victory.

Resso pitched a quality start for the Sasquatch working through five innings in which he gave up four hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out six batters. At the plate, both Resso and Logan Iverson recorded doubles for the Sasquatch. Wilson went one-for-three with a single, two RBIs, and drew one walk.

The Sandpoint Sasquatch 14U will be back in action Saturday against the River City Thunder 14U, Cranbrook Bandits 15U, and the Kootenay Kestrels 15U. All of the games will be played at War Memorial Field.
