Grand slam fuels Sandpoint 12U All-stars over Lakeland

HAYDEN – The Sandpoint 12U All-Stars defeated Lakeland 14-3 on Saturday at Croffoot Park to improve to 4-1 in District 1 pool play.

Sandpoint scored in all four innings of play, but really took control in the third and fourth innings where the All-Stars scored a combined 10 runs. A highlight of the scoring spree was a grand slam in the third by Trevor Tadic hit to deep left field to give Sandpoint an 8-2 lead. Tadic finished the game with five RBIs.

The team continued tacking on runs in the final two innings with RBI singles from Coen Leavitt, Kaleb Bogadi, and Cruz Oliver, and an RBI triple from Henry Madden. On the mound, Erik Hansen had another terrific outing, striking out seven in four innings of work for Sandpoint.

The Sandpoint 12U All-Stars will play Post Falls on Sunday to wrap up District 1 pool play. If victorious, the team is likely to face off against Coeur d'Alene in the District 1 championship series July 14-16 in Coeur d’Alene.
