Catherine Coyle Frechette, affectionately known as Cathy, passed away at the age of 47 on July 3, 2023.
Born Catherine Ruth Coyle in Spokane, Wash., Cathy was a woman of intellect, passion and extraordinary kindness.
A dedicated scholar, Cathy graduated from Priest River Lamanna High School before attending the University of Montana, Lane Community College and the University of Oregon, where she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in sociology. Her professional accomplishments matched her academic prowess as a respected instructor of fire science technology at Spokane Community College. Cathy took pride in molding the next generation of firefighters and served as a state of Idaho proctor for firefighting skills.
Cathy's life was marked by a loving relationship with her husband, Bernard John "Bernie" Frechette. Their paths crossed during a fire training course in 2013, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey of love, companionship, and mutual respect. They shared a bond so unique that it was not once marred by arguments but always graced with laughter, adventure, and an unparalleled sense of understanding. Together, they cherished unforgettable moments, such as their proposal in the snowy mountains of Montana and their wedding, surrounded by loved ones Sept. 8, 2018.
A true servant of her community, Cathy was a volunteer firefighter, working her way up to lieutenant. Cathy was an avid reader in her free time, had a passion for photography, and also enjoyed cooking and fishing. She cherished spending time with her beloved husband, her sister Christine, and her family and friends. Known for her compassionate, generous spirit and unending commitment to those in need, Cathy's legacy will forever be one of love and service.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Bernie; and her sister, Christine Coyle. She was preceded in death by her father, John Bernard Coyle, and her mother, Mary Margaret Coyle.

In the words of her loving husband, "I will for the rest of my life cherish the time we had together; I wish so much we had more … I will always carry the memory of you close to my heart … I love you forever."
