SHS dancers off to Vandal Spirit Squad Dance Camp

| July 13, 2023 1:00 AM

Recent Sandpoint High School graduates Haleigh Knowles and Mikah Little packed up their belongings and headed down to Moscow to start their journeys with the University of Idaho Vandals Gems Dance Team yesterday.

The pair will be quite busy over the next two and a half weeks spending countless hours practicing, perfecting different dance styles and routines, and getting to know their fellow Vandal Gems dancers. Almost every day includes different activities and events aside from the girls’ practices; practices alone are up to nine hours a day.

Little and Knowles are no strangers to commitment or dedication, however. In order to even land a spot on the roster they had to prove their high skill levels and athleticism, strong academics, and excellent time management abilities to their coaches. The two proved all of that during their four years at Sandpoint where they racked up tons of accolades as part of the SHS dance team.

All of the girls’ hard work will be showcased at every University of Idaho home football game this season and at select men’s and women’s basketball games. If interested in following these local athletes, follow the Vandal Spirit Squad on Facebook or on Instagram at @idaho_spirit.
