Library hosting Science Walk events

It’s another busy week at the library. Join me for two separate Science Walk events this week. The first will be at the Clark Fork Library on Tuesday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Collect samples from nearby locations like the frisbee golf course and the park, and return to the library to examine samples under the microscopes. Catch some great views of the legendary mountain peaks nearby with a pair of binoculars, available for checkout in limited quantities.

The second Science Walk will be at Pine Street Woods on Friday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hit the trails in search of local wildlife and the things they leave behind. Gauge the health of your local ecosystem and get a little exercise at the same time!

If you’re looking to beat the heat, stop by the Sandpoint Library on Wednesday, July 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. and listen to Sean Gaskell play the West African kora. This is a 12-stringed harp with a history that dates back to ancient times.

On Thursday, July 20, the Clark Fork Library will be hosting the Albeni Falls rangers in a presentation on local owls from 2 to 3 p.m. If you’re curious about the nocturnal raptors in our area, this is the program for you. At the Sandpoint Library, from 4 to 6 p.m., Art Church will be sharing his knowledge on how to improve the soil of your garden or orchard and continue to build up the strength of your plants for years to come.

Friday, soak up some sun and exercise your brain as the Friends of the Library host a read-in at City Beach. Stop by between noon and 2 p.m. to make some progress on your summer reading log and pick up a free book for your children.

Looking for more events? The library’s event calendar is completely full this summer. Stop by your nearest library branch for a printed schedule, or head over to our website at ebonnerlibrary.org/events. We hope to see you soon!
