Socialism, climate change and the world today

Catherine Fahrig with her letter (Daily Bee, June 18) put meaning into my letter (Daily Bee, June 11) that simply wasn’t there. That was done so she would have something to argue with and wound up arguing with only herself.

Fahrig also characterized my truth-telling as being a hit piece. The fact she was defending Scott Herndon speaks volumes.

Though I am for socialism as it is practiced in America, nowhere did I advocate for socialism in my letter. I simply made an observation.

Many let their brain go into lockdown when they hear the word socialism. They tend to be blinded by their biases and critical thinking ceases to exist.

Some appear to have been blinded by the corporate anti-socialism propaganda we all have endured for decades. Apparently, she has no understanding of how all in America benefit from socialism every day.

Now for Monte Heil’s crises of climate.

In his letter (Daily Bee, June 25), he declared “only the left-wing communists/socialists of this world say that there is a climate crisis.”

“Left-wing communists/socialists” were the same words thrown by southern white racists at the Freedom Riders and Civil Rights Activists during the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s.

So, Mr. Heil, I know where you’re coming from. The truth of the climate crisis is terrifying and it is far more comforting to deny it than to face the reality of it.

Soon the climate crises will make you woke.
