Dr. Robert Steven Hoopes, 69

Dr. Robert Steven Hoopes, 69, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at North Summit Church, with Pastor Steve Brown officiating.

Steve was born on Nov. 12, 1953, in Atwater, Calif., to Robert and Evelyne Hoopes. He grew up and attended schools in Fresno, graduating from McLane High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fresno City College and his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic.

Steve married Shirley Lowder on Feb. 26, 1977, in Davenport, Iowa. He owned and operated Hoopes Chiropractic Office, Inc., in Fresno. Steve retired in 2019 and moved to Sandpoint.

He was a member of North Summit Church. He was a lifetime learner and earned numerous postgraduate degrees. He loved swimming with his grandchildren; being in the water was his freedom. He was a member of Kings River Country Club and active in the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK). A charter member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Helping with Farsighted 4-H group with a love of all creatures great and small. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed music, movies, Disneyland, cars and aviation.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hoopes of Sandpoint; son, Jaeson (Teresa) Hoopes of Sanger, Calif.; daughter, Katie Hoopes of Sandpoint; three grandchildren, Spencer, Xander and Lukas; and one sister, Cynthia Hoopes of Fresno.
