| July 29, 2023 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Today's Festival at Sandpoint concert is going to be epic as Train and Better Than Ezra take to the Festival at Sandpoint stage on Saturday. Tickets for Train with Better Than Ezra are sold out.

Since their formation in 1994, the multi-Grammy Award-winning Train has had 14 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100, 12 albums on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and has sold more than 10 million albums and 30 million tracks worldwide. The band’s global hit “Hey, Soul Sister” continues to reach new milestones — it was the No. 1 best-selling smash and most downloaded single of 2010, achieved RIAA Diamond status in 2021 and is now 11x platinum, and in 2022 surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. The band is comprised of frontman Pat Monahan (lead vocals), Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals), Jerry Becker (keyboards, vocals), Taylor Locke (guitar, vocals), Matt Musty (drums), Sakai Smith (backup vocals) and Nikita Houston (backup vocals).

One of Billboard’s “100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time”, Better Than Ezra, will be opening tonight’s show. The New Orleans quartet was formed by Kevin Griffin and Tom Drummond in 1989 and have been captivating audiences with their hummable melodies and confessional lyrics since then. Better Than Ezra has yielded definitive fan-favorite anthems such as “Desperately Wanting,” King Of New Orleans, and “Closer.”

The Saturday concert is a standard show, meaning the area in front of the stage is standing-room only.

Early entry and sponsor gates open at 5:45 p.m. and general admission and season pass gates open at 6 p.m. Music begins at 7:30 p.m.

The early entry and season pass lines are located on the lakeside of the War Memorial Field. The sponsor line is located on Ontario Street, with the general admission line beginning in Lakeview Park.

Free parking is available at the Sandpoint High School Parking Lot at 410 S. Division. There is a free SPOT bus shuttle service to and from the parking lot and the venue that runs continuously from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tickets for The String Cheese Incident, the Family Show with Michael Franti & Friends, Ashley McBryde with Zach Top, and the Grand Finale: The Princess Bride in Concert are still available.
