Library packs summer with fun events
Are you planning on playing hooky on the last day of school? If so, I’ve got a fun event for you.
I’ll be stopping by the WaterLife Discovery Center, 1591 Lakeshore Drive, in Sagle on Friday, June 9, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a set of microscopes and sample collection tools. Hit the trails, catch some fresh air and observe the local wildlife - I’ll have binoculars you can check out for your visit, but show up early because I only have a limited supply. Collect some water and bring it back to the library’s mobile science station to observe the microscopic world. What’s squirming around in our waterways?
There will be a naturalist on site to talk about what neat things you find, and explain how it all links together to form our local ecosystem. Your observations help the Pend Oreille Master Naturalists gauge the health of the ecosystem that help inform organizations like Idaho Fish & Game.
If June 9 doesn’t work for you, come stop by Pine Street Woods on June 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., where we’ll be set up for another science scavenger hunt. Just in case you needed an excuse to get out and enjoy nature, the library is here to provide you with one.
