Ted Loman
Ted Loman passed away on April 20, 2023, of natural causes.
Ted was born on March 26, 1951, in Lewiston, Idaho. He was raised in Southern California where he mastered the sport of water polo receiving a scholarship to play for Central Washington.
After attending Central, he returned to California where he met and married Laura Wisniewski. They moved to Tucson, Ariz., where they raised their two children, Nathan and Nayla.
At 39 years old, Ted lost his eyesight, due to a work accident. However, this didn’t stop him; he continued to grow by finishing his college education while starting a TV show on Community Access TV called UFOAZ.
After running this show for 13 years, he returned to Sandpoint. He continued to give back by working with the city to install the APS (Accessible Pedestrian Signals) for the visually impaired and by opening a non-profit thrift store, The Cove.
Shortly after opening The Cove, Ted was diagnosed with throat cancer. He put up a good fight, beat all odds, and had been in remission for the past seven years. During his radiation, he was faced with losing what small amount of eyesight he had left, and the use of his tongue. Again, he did not let this stop him. He continued to run The Cove and loved doing so.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Bob Loman; and father, Paul Loman. He is survived by his mother, Ina Loman; sister, Becky (Mike) Freeland; ex-wives, Laura Loman-Pressler and Melony Loman; son, Nathan (Heather) Loman; daughter, Nayla Morton; and his four granddaughters, Rylee, Breecyn, Breckly, and Carolina.
The services for his celebration of life will be held at the Gardenia Center, downtown Sandpoint on June 10 at 11 a.m. He was a strong, wise, loving man that will be sorely missed. All are welcome to come share stories and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, charitable items can be brought to The Cove thrift store where the proceeds will be donated back to the community as he would have wanted.
Family and friends are invited to sign Ted’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.
Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
