County radio club participating in annual field day
Members of the Bonner County Amateur Radio Club along with Bonner County Amateur Radio Emergency Services will be participating in a national amateur radio field day exercise June 24 and 25 at the Edgemere Grange in Priest River.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, to see communications in action and learn about the various modes of communication local Bonner County amateur radio operators, or “hams,” are involved with.
Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during the field day event to showcase the science of amateur radio. The field day is a demonstration for how amateur radio works reliably under many conditions from almost any location to create an independent communications network.
For information about the field day or how to get involved with the local amateur radio clubs, visit the Bonner County Amateur Club website at k7jep.org or Bonner County Amateur Radio Emergency Service website at k7bnr.org.
This field day event is sponsored annually by the American Radio Relay League. The Edgemere Grange is located at 3273 Bandy Road, Priest River.
