Kent Mason Chapin, 63

Kent Mason Chapin, 63, passed away on April 20, 2023, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

He was born on February 7, 1960, in Coeur d'Alene to Mason and Lois Chapin of Post Falls. After moving to Cocolalla in 1970, he attended Southside Elementary through the eighth grade and Sandpoint Jr. and Sr. High in Sandpoint, graduating in 1979.

From there, he attended North Idaho College, where he studied art and marketing. Later, he would go to the Astoria, Ore., Job Corps and learn building maintenance. He worked as a security guard for Hagadone Corporation as well as Watts Security, and he worked for eight years for the city in the Sandpoint Parks Department.

He had a passion for art and painting wildlife scenes.

He met Jolene Mallet and they were married on April 4, 1996. Jolene is a great artist and they enjoyed doing their art together and working to improve her little ranch on the mountain. They later divorced but remained good friends until his death.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mason; his sister Theresa; and grandparents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mom, Lois, of Cocolalla; Jolene Chapin of Post Falls; his brothers, Brian (Ellie) of Sagle, Kevin (LaRinda) of Post Falls and Grant (Angie) of Cocolalla; his sister Melanie Slack (John); and many nephews and nieces, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at New Song Church on June 24 at 11 a.m.
