‘Lawless & Disordered,’ program explores county’s dark side
Is it the chill in the air that’s making you shiver or something else?
History is full of great achievements, but it also has a dark side, and Bonner County’s history is no exception, Bry Ells, Bonner County History Museum administrator, said.
That dark side will be highlighted at a Saturday fundraiser by the museum. Held at The Hive, 207 N. First Ave., the event features a presentation of fascinating stories of early Bonner County with special guest performances by world-renowned cabaret group Rouge La Rue.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m., presentation begins at 3 p.m., and a social hour will follow until 6:30. Reserve a spot at the Bonner County Historical Society’s Drink in History program “Lawless & Disordered, the Dark Side of Bonner County” online at the museum’s website, bonnercountyhistory.org.
“Step away from the serenity of small-town life in idyllic North Idaho and explore the area’s history of gruesome accidents, theft, soiled doves, counterfeiting rings, bootleggers, mysteries, fugitives and so much more,” Ellis said.
The Hive will be providing a full no-host bar, including a signature themed cocktail. The event is 21 and up only and those under 21 will not be permitted entry, regardless of whether they have purchased tickets. Museum merchandise also will be available for purchase at the event.
The event is the historical society’s summer fundraiser event for the museum. Proceeds will support the museum’s community programs throughout the year.
Founded in 1972, the Bonner County Historical Society and Museum is a private, non-profit organization whose membership is open to all.
