Summer underway at Schweitzer

| June 18, 2023 1:00 AM

Summer is officially underway at Schweitzer.

The Sandpoint resort kicked off its summer season, which features everything from hosted e-bike rides, huckleberry shuttles, and the return of outdoor cinematic entertainment.

“We are looking forward to another summer of fun at Schweitzer,” said Tom Chasse, resort president and CEO. “We’re excited to enjoy summer favorites from mountain biking and outdoor movies to outdoor dining and events.”

And with the resort's new spa, Cambium, having opened early this year, Chasse said it's a great time to head up for some relaxation.

Many popular programs are returning this summer, including "Movies on the Mountain," which returns after a multi-year hiatus. The program features free family-friendly screenings on the lawn outside Crow’s Bench each Friday in August.

Hosted e-bike rides also return with a two-hour tour that loops around a 10-12-mile trail while guides offer information on regional flora and fauna.

In addition, the "Huckleberry Shuttle" runs on select dates beginning in late July, transporting guests to special spots to pick one of the region's tastiest wild treats. E-rides and the shuttle are fee-based and encouraged by contacting the Activity Center at Schweitzer.

A number of events are planned this summer, starting with Community Day on June 18, a fundraiser to benefit Bonner County Human Rights Taskforce.

Race the Wolf returns June 24-25 with new distances and routes ranging from a 5-mile fun run to half- or full marathon. Northwest Wine Fest arrives July 15-16, showcasing Pacific Northwest wines alongside local food, activities, and music.

The popular Fall Fest will close out the summer season Sept. 1-4 with live music, beer and cider tastings, and more.
