| June 20, 2023 1:00 AM

Lorraine Lillian Schroeder was born October 13, 1936, in Lester Prairie, Minn., to Ervin and Lillian Schroeder. She died on June 10, 2023, in Wenatchee, Wash.

She was the fastest runner at Mayer Elementary and graduated from Watertown, Minn., High School. On November 4, 1954, she married Orville "Sam" Otto. They honeymooned in Sandpoint, Idaho. They were married until Sam's death in 2013.

Their five children Laurie, Eldon, Amy, Betty and John were born in Minnesota. In July 1973, they left Minnesota and moved to Sandpoint. In 1999, they moved to Wenatchee.

She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1966, and active in the different congregations she attended.

She was a stay-at-home mom who kept all five of her children in line! When John, the youngest, turned 20 she wanted to celebrate with a party for surviving five teenagers; however, she was way too thrifty to spend the money. In her 80s she tackled computers and learned how to use Zoom and WhatsApp.

She is survived by her children: Laurie Klontz, Battle Ground, Wash., Eldon (Connie) Otto, East Wenatchee, Wash., Amy (Gene) Buchanan, Palmer, Alaska, Betty (Ted) Watson, Managua, Nicaragua, and John (Michelle) Otto, Locust, N.C. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Bobbi (Jayson) Hills of East Wenatchee, Wash., Heidi (Jamie) Steffensen of Battle Ground, Wash., and Onita (Kelly) McNair and Ona (Justin Hastings) both of Wenatchee, Wash.; five great-grandchildren, Mason and Clarisse Hills (East Wenatchee), Samantha and Emma Steffensen (Battle Ground), and Connor Hastings (Wenatchee). She is also survived by her brothers, sister, cousins, nieces and nephews, all in Minnesota, along with her best friend, Gloria Legard of Osburn, Idaho. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, and husband, Sam.

She liked traveling, cooking, studying the Bible, and watching movies on the Hallmark Channel. She had a "green thumb" for her indoor plants and outdoor gardening. She loved giving/getting extra long hugs.

Services will be held at the East Wenatchee Kingdom Hall, 18 38th Street NW, East Wenatchee, Wash., (off the Sunset Hwy.) on June 24, 2023, at 3 p.m. with Gary Ebbighausen officiating.

The family thanks everyone for the phone calls, texts, cards, flowers and meals.
