Terry Allbee, 71
Terry Lee Allbee
(5/19/1952-6/17/2023)
Terry Lee Allbee, 71, of Oldtown, Idaho, passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in the very early morning on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at home surrounded by his family, after a short 14-month battle with cancer.
Terry was born May 19, 1952, in Redmond, Ore., the fifth child, to Glen and Lois. The family relocated to Oldtown in 1956 when he was four years old, where he completed school at Idaho Hill Elementary and then graduated from Newport High School in 1970.
Terry was involved in extracurricular activities in school, but music was his main passion and gift. He picked up his first guitar at 7 years old and taught himself to play and sing. He was part of a church choir as a young boy and in high school, he and three close friends formed the band, Blue Conspiracy, and performed all over the Newport and Spokane area. He also worked at the Grizzly Drive Inn.
After graduation, Terry enlisted in the Navy in April of 1971, but due to a previous overseen medical condition, he was medically discharged in August of ‘71. He then returned to Oldtown and proceeded to build his life there. He began his career in the lumber industry at Geadreau’s Mill, continuing his work at Merritt Bros., with a short period of time spent working at the railroad. His longest work was spent at Pend Oreille Valley Fibre, where he settled in the early ‘90s, now known as Vaagen Bros, and retired in the spring of 2019.
If he wasn’t at work, he would work proudly on his place, hunting, fishing, or playing music in various local granges and taverns with his best friends.
Terry married the love of his life, Sylvia, in March 1977, and together they had a daughter. They were married for 35 years. After Sylvia passed in 2012, Terry later found his second love Cymme, and they spent eight years together.
Terry leaves behind his daughter, Shasta (Allbee) Carlsen (Chad); granddaughter, Averie Carlsen (Thomas); grandsons Reese and Quinn Carlsen, of Colbert, Wash.; Cymme Gerhauser of Oldtown, Idaho; his sisters, April Zimmerman (Doug) of Spokane, Carolyn Knudsen (Pat) of Eagle River, Alaska, Maxine Corning (Steve) of Spokane, and Wanda Allbee of Oldtown, Idaho; and his three step-children, Diana Gladis (Dennis), Mike Walker (Tammy), and Laurie Berquist; as well as multiple cousins, nephews, nieces, and several close friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sylvia; parents, four brothers, as well as other family members and friends.
Terry had an exceptional talent for music and writing poetry, a personality and smile that would light up any room, and a laugh that was contagious. He will be beyond missed by all who knew and loved him. Psalm 23.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 30, 2023, at 1 p.m., with a dessert reception at the American Lutheran Church in Newport, Wash., 332801 Highway 2, Newport, Wash.
